KWPB welcomes groups who wish to undertake adopting a spot of their
choosing or ours. The spots include, but are not limited to mini
parks and median strips. Responsibilities for these spots include
weeding, planting, and/or trash removal. For quarterly efforts and
a two-year commitment these groups receive city-wide publicity,
and a plaque with their name marking their spot
Each year ten businesses are selected to receive our Annual
Business Beautification Awards for their overall contribution
to the beauty of the city. The honorees are recognized and receive
plaques at the stage during the Old Fashion July 4th Celebration
in Central Park.
Keep Winter Park Beautiful continues throughout the year to sponsor
four different Ballroom Dance Lessons instructed by Stuart Nichols.
All series cost $80 per person, both singles and couples are welcome,
and no advanced reservations are necessary.

For the last several years we have partnered with the Neighborhood
Associations supplying them with bags, cleaning materials, and prizes
to encourage their efforts within the individual neighborhoods.
We celebrate Earth Day by painting houses, painting our Central
Park Benches and trash can holders, our planting projects, our educational
materials for schools, and public awareness projects. Churches and
other groups are contacted and encouraged to let us know how we
may assist them with supplies for other group efforts. A sampling
of the groups that have partnered with us in the past include: The
United Methodist Church Preschool Program, Housing Authority, the
Afterschool Program at the Winter Park Community Center, AKA Sorority
and Grant Memorial Chapel. In 2000 we inaugurated our "City
for Sale" Garage Sale Program, a recycling portion of the Great
American Cleanup. |
